Gathering up the wisdom for your 2023 vision...

Happy almost new year!

We’re about to wrap up 2022.

(Perhaps that’s a welcome relief for you, or maybe it’s stirring something uncomfortable inside of you. Or you might feel delighted and excited as you look ahead... or something else entirely.)

As we move through this time of shorter days and longer nights (if you’re in the northern hemisphere), have you created a little space to pause?

For today...

1) Savoring the pause to look backward and forward in time

2) Gather up the wisdom

3) Guidance on the process

Savoring the pause

I’ve been enjoying the slowing down and savoring, taking a real week off, carving out dedicated time to connect with family and friends, and giving myself extra permission to enjoy the slower pace and quieter ways, even while traveling.

I’ve loved creating space to turn inward, to journal, to reflect on this past year, and to set the vision for next year.

Look backward and forward in time

In preparation for retreat, I've created space to both review 2022 and vision 2023.

Looking back (in linear time) and acknowledging what we’ve done and created – and who we had to become to do that - is a powerful process.

It also makes space to witness what we’ve lost (the good and the hard) and what needs attention (and possibly healing or grieving) that may have been overlooked.

And as we look forward, it can be empowering and exciting to vision the path ahead, setting the energetic tone we want to create for the year to come.

Gather up the wisdom

It’s so easy – as those who serve and show up for others, to perpetually be looking ahead to what’s next and ask, “where am I needed?” and to add to that to do list…

It’s more challenging to commit time and attention to honor and acknowledge all that we’ve been and done – what we've had to walk, and who we’ve had to become to move through all of it.

Since we, like much of the natural world, move through seasons and cycles, the pause to reflect and honor how we've moved through them can help us attune more to those cycles now and in the future.

The pause helps us be more present, more centered, more prepared, and (perhaps surprisingly) more productive.

And yet, when we don’t recognize what it took us to get there, we miss out on important pieces to celebrate, honor, and learn from… and missing out on those pieces can keep us from moving forward with wisdom and awareness that helps us do better next time.

Guidance on the Process - want to get started?

I’ll be leading Honoring & Releasing 2022, Visioning 2023, a community retreat version of this.

For a taste of where we'll begin, I encourage you to do the following:

1) pull out your work and personal calendars (phone or paper), and review your 2022.

2) Look at what happened, where you went, what you created and brought to life, and what you helped make happen. Notice also what you let go of.

3) Take notes on what you feel proudest of, and what’s shifted in you as you’ve done it.

4) Circle your top 3-5 things you've done or created that you're proudest of (inner or outer).

5) Take a moment to acknowledge yourself - or perhaps share with someone so you can be witnessed.

More to come.

For now, I send you beauty-filled wishes for a healthy, joyful, connected, and meaningful transition into 2023!

The world needs you well.

With love and many blessings,

Kelly
